School
Garden
These
photos are of the new school garden that we are creating with Mr Sentance.
We've already been using some of the produce in our school kitchens.
School
Buildings Development
Did you know that in January 2008 the number of children
at our school reached 145.
This is a record for our school and with the village continuing to
grow we are presented
with a range of challenges for the future.
The central problem is simple - we don't have enough space in school
for all the children we have.
We would love to form a 6th Class in the near future but we have nowhere
to base it.
Our governors have outlined some key areas for development
and we are working to make them happen:
-
a
new classroom
-
a
new purpose built area for playgroup
-
a
new, and bigger, school hall
-
a
covered outdoor area for younger children to work in
-
changing
rooms for sport
-
bigger
school kitchens
-
new
staffroom and staff toilets
-
more
storage space
-
more
energy efficient ways of servicing the school
This is a big list but we are all committed to developing
our school and we believe that
if we work together and are determined then all of the above will
prove possible.
If
anyone has any comments or ideas please get in touch.

March
2006
With Spring just around the corner our playground development
has continued and a willow dome has appeared on the school grounds.
Under the direction of our art teacher, Bryan Sentance, children
from Class 5 spent a day digging and
constructing.
Now all we need is a bit of growing and we'll have
a wonderful outdoor classroom.
This is the first stage of an outdoor sculpture project which
we've got planned for Summer 2006 so watch this space. |

Playground
Opening - November 1st 2005
|
|
On
Tuesday 1st of November we were delighted to welcome Teresa Cheel
(one of our parents) who came in to school on behalf of the Natwest
Supergrounds Scheme.
Teresa's hard work for the school has enabled us to receive grants
of over £5000. We are all very grateful to her and Natwest
Bank because the wonderful work which has teaken place to improve
our playgrounds would not have happened without this support.
In addition to the official opening we also invited parents in
to school for an open morning and it was great that so many took
the opportunity to come in and see what the children are doing
in school.
Over 50 parents joined us for lunch and as always our kitchen
staff did an excellent job, putting on an extremelly well received
buffet.
The children were delighted that we decided to hold a non-uniform
day and they had a great time taking part in inter-house games
on the playground.
Everyone had an excellent time.
The children are pictured at the opening ceremony which has recently
been featured in The North Devon Journal. |

In November
2003 the school was able to open a new extension and this means
that we are now very lucky to have plenty of space and very
good accommodation.
Since then we have been working very hard to raise money so
that we can develop our school grounds.
Our PTA has worked very hard for us and we have also been lucky
enough to receive a grant of nearly £5000 from NATWEST
Bank.
A lot of this work took place during Summer 2005.
We Have
been working to :
-
resurface
the playground
-
renovate
the shed
-
create
an outdoor area for Classes 1 and 2 to work in
-
provide
quiet areas for us to sit in
-
build
a stage
-
start
constructing a sculpture garden
We
think that we have made an excellent start and we are looking
forward to making our school grounds even better in the future.
